그라모폰(Gramophone)으로부터 ‘우리 시대의 현악사중주단’이라는 찬사를 받은 파벨 하스 콰르텟은 문자 그대로 최고의 실내악 앙상블이라고 할 수 있다. 여전히 젊은 파벨 하스 콰르텟이 2005년 파올로 보르치아니 콩쿨에서 우승하고 2006년 데뷔 음반을 발표한 이래 쌓아올린 경력과 음악 활동은 전설적인 옛 현악사중주단들을 연상하게 만든다.
파벨 하스 사중주단의 연주는 세밀하고 자극적이며 분석적인 현대 현악사중주 연주의 흐름과 체코 전통의 유려하고 서정적인 낭만주의적 특성을 효과적으로 결합한 뛰어난 연주를 들려주며, 어느 작품에서도 정확함과 즉흥적인 자발성을 모두 성취하고 있다는 평을 듣고 있다.

이제까지 이들이 발표한 일곱 장의 음반은 그라모폰, 디아파종, 클래식FM, 포노포룸, BBC뮤직매거진 등 여러 나라의 음반지로부터 격찬을 받았는데, 그것 자체로도 드문 일이지만 이들의 해석이 얼마나 보편적인 공감을 얻고 있는지를 보여준다.
가령 영국 그라모폰 어워드는 2007년에 실내악 부문으로 파벨 하스 콰르텟(하스/야나체크)을 선정한 이래 2011년(드보르자크), 2014년(슈베르트), 2015년(스메타나)에 이어 올해에도 이들의 음반(드보르자크)을 수상작으로 선정했다.

그 중에서도 이번에 엘피로 발매되는 드보르자크 사중주 음반은 2011년 <올해의 음반>까지 아울러 수상한, 우리 시대의 새로운 명반이다. 이번에 새롭게 발매되는 LP세트는 DMM 커팅으로 제작한 180g 오디오파일 음반으로, 작품과 연주, 녹음이 모두 멋진 조화를 이루고 있다.
